Hartington Class

Topic

Hartington class will be exploring a topic called Misty Mountain, Winding River. This project teaches children about the characteristics and features of rivers and mountain ranges around the world, including a detailed exploration of the ecosystems and processes that shape them and the land around them.

Literacy

In Literacy, children will be read the story, ‘The Gorilla’ by Anthony Browne and they will be writing their very own narrative based on this book. They will be completing a variety of different written tasks surrounding aspects of the story and they will be learning how to use grammatical features to make their writing more entertaining and interesting.

 

Science

In Science, the children will be learning all about the human digestive system and what happens to the food we eat inside our bodies. They will also be looking at the the different types of teeth humans have. We will be creating models of our digestive systems and carrying out experiments to investigate the effects of tooth decay.

In 

Maths

In Maths, the children will be focusing on understanding place value up to four-digit numbers and using written methods for adding and subtracting. They will then go on to multiplying and dividing larger numbers and developing fluency with multiplication tables.
