Times of the School Day
We expect children to arrive on time each morning.
This helps them to make a good start to every day and to learn well.
Our school day runs from 8:45am to 3:15pm, giving pupils 6 hours and 30 minutes in school each day. This amounts to a total of 32 hours and 30 minutes in a typical week, including morning and lunchtime breaks but excluding any before- or after-school clubs or activities. This meets the Department for Education’s expectation that all state-funded mainstream schools provide a school week of at least 32.5 hours.

Informing us about absence
We are proud of our excellent attendance rate at Hague Bar Primary School,
Parents have the responsibility for ensuring that their child attends school unless there is a medical reason why not. They should inform the school on each day of absence if their child cannot attend for any reason. Please try to ring or email school before 9.00a.m. on the first day of absence.
For medical and dental appointments, please complete our medical leave of absence form or if appoitment is short notice please inform school by contacting the office staff on 01663 762203.
Holidays during term time cannot be authorised, except in very exceptional circumstances. Taking children out of school for holidays can affect their learning and progress. If you need to request leave, please complete a Leave of Absence form, but be aware that most requests will not be approved in line with government guidance. Thank you for helping us ensure that every child achieves their best through good attendance.
Children who are persistently absent from school without good reason will be contacted and if necessary referred to the Education Welfare Officer.
